ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

AkulaTech is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to design, develop, and test advanced electrical systems for our next-generation smart satellites. The role requires expertise in electrical design software (Altium, CAD), space-grade components, power systems, and environmental testing to ensure mission success in extreme space environments.
You will have the opportunity to lead electrical component design, harnessing, and subsystem integration, collaborating closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams. As a key technical authority, you will oversee testing, validation, and regulatory compliance (NASA, ESA, MIL-STD) while working with manufacturing for scalable production.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

- Experience with satellite or aerospace-grade electrical components and systems.
- Hands-on experience with environmental testing for space applications.
- Knowledge of radiation-hardened electrical systems.
- Familiarity with space mission lifecycle, from design to deployment and operations.

ESSENTIAL/DESIRED SKILLS

- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., Altium, CAD tools for harness design).
- Strong understanding of space-grade components, radiation effects on electronics, and thermal considerations.
- Knowledge of space power systems, including solar power, battery systems, and power regulation.
- Familiarity with electrical testing methods and environmental testing standards (e.g., vibration, thermal vacuum testing). Knowledge of space and defence standards (NASA, ESA, MIL-STD, etc.).
- Relevant industry certifications such as Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), or specialized courses in aerospace or defence electronics.
- Problem Solver: Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and come up with innovative solutions for space-constrained, high-performance environments. Leadership: The ability to take ownership of projects and eventually lead the electrical engineering team.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues during the design phase.
- Attention to Detail: High precision in design and testing, understanding that even minor oversights in space missions can lead to failure.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, systems, software engineers, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering or related field
- Master of Electrical Engineering, System Engineering or related field

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Satellite Electrical Component Design: Design, develop, and test electrical components for satellites, including power distribution units, electrical interfaces, and power conditioning circuits.
- Harnessing and Wiring Systems: Develop detailed designs for harnessing systems, including power and signal wiring between satellite subsystems, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
- Subsystem Integration: Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical components with other satellite subsystems.
Project Leadership: Lead the electrical engineering department, overseeing design, prototyping, testing, and validation of satellite systems. Serve as a technical authority within the electrical domain.
- Documentation: Develop detailed design documentation, specifications, wiring diagrams, and test plans.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all electrical designs and implementations comply with aerospace and defence industry standards (such as MIL-STD, NASA standards, or ESA standards).
- Manufacturing Collaboration: Coordinate with the manufacturing team to ensure that electrical components are producible at scale, including involvement in prototype and production builds.
- Testing and Validation: Oversee the testing of electrical components and systems, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal, vacuum) and electrical testing (short circuit, power consumption, signal integrity).
