Nishq Ravindranath has been shortlisted for the Australian AI Awards 2024.
Nishq Ravindranath has been named as a finalist in the Australian AI Awards for AI Software Engineer of the Year, AI Rising Star of the Year - SME, and AI Leader of the Year - SME.

The inaugural Australian AI Awards recognises the professionals, organisations, and solutions that have transformed the Australian economy across industries including banking, law, accounting, and wealth management through to defence, aerospace, cyber, and more.
The finalist list, which was announced on Thursday, 19 September 2024, features over 190 high-achieving professionals and businesses across 25 submission-based categories.

Securing a place as a finalist is widely recognised as a remarkable achievement in the artificial intelligence industry. It signifies the unwavering determination and commitment of individuals, teams and businesses playing a pivotal role in propelling the industry forward.
Winners will be announced at a black-tie gala at the Four Seasons Sydney on Wednesday, 6 November 2024.

Nishq Ravindranath, the Chief AI Officer at Akula said that he was humbled to be recognised and proud to be named as a finalist in the Australian AI Awards 2024.

As a finalist, he has been recognised for his undeniable leadership in the application and implementation of Artificial Intelligence within the Space and Defence industry. As a well-versed software engineer and AI specialist with a focus on Space and Defence technology, Nishq has been the driving force behind the development of space-based AI applications, such as our onboard data processing pipeline, space-ready AI/ML model optimiser, as well as autonomous swarming software for satellites and drones.

This work has been recognised in research conferences such as Australian Defence, Science, Technology and Research Summit (ADSTAR) 2024, International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2024 and has allowed us to progress through stage 1 of the XPRIZE Space-based wildfire detection competition.
